Earlier this week the Department of Homeland Security announced that the last of the 10,300 Afghan refugees who passed through Fort Pickett in Nottaway County. Now the Virginia Department of Social Services has released figures on how many resettled in Virginia — and where.
The department said that so far 5,217 Afghans had been resettled in Virginia. (Not all of those may have passed through Fort Pickett; some may have been temporarily housed at other military bases.
Of those 5,217, here’s where they were resettled and by whom:
