Only three weeks remain in the 2026 Virginia High School League football season, but there are still 20 undefeated teams including seven — George Washington, Jefferson Forest, Carroll County, Magna Vista, William Byrd, Craig County and Chilhowie — from central and southwest Virginia.
Also unbeaten are Class 6 — Thomas Dale, Alexandria City, Oakton; Class 5 — Indian River, Bethel, King’s Fork; Class 4 — Louisa County, Loudoun Valley, Sherando.; Class 3 — Petersburg, Broadway; Class 2 — Central-Lunenburg; and Class 1 — Sussex Central.
Holding a top spot in the ratings that determine region playoff qualification and seeding does not require a perfect record. Twelve of the VHSL’s 24 regions are led by teams with at least one loss.
