Update 5:20 p.m. July 21, 2026: FloydFest organizers announced on Tuesday that they have booked Greensky Bluegrass to play the Friday night main-stage headlining set.
The appendix, once considered a useless organ, balances gut bacteria and helps maintain a good immune system. Mostly, though, we know it for its oft-occurring suffix, -itis, necessitating its frequent removal.
The offending innard has struck again, this time forcing singer Susan Tedeschi off the road for at least the coming weekend.
For FloydFest attendees, that means no Tedeschi Trucks Band show on Friday night.
Tedeschi, writing on the band’s Instagram today, cited an “appendix scare” and surgery to remove it, as first reported by Jambase.com. The band must cancel its FloydFest and Newport Folk Festival shows.
“I am very disappointed,” the singer and guitarist wrote. “I never cancel shows and don’t like disappointing our fans, band and crew.”
She added: “My apologies go out to the festival organizers and everyone who was planning to see us.”
It was to be the first-ever FloydFest for the band, which Tedeschi leads with her husband, guitarist Derek Trucks. They were scheduled for a two-hour main stage headlining set on Friday.
FloydFest spokesman Sam Calhoun said on Monday afternoon that he could not comment. The festival posted on social media at about 9:30 p.m. Monday, saying it would “soon announce replacement programming” and offering two options to Friday-only general admission ticket holders who no longer want to attend that day.
They may roll over those tickets to next year’s festival, via forms.gle/qABCFuiqFb1X1kij8, or use their Friday-only tickets for any other day of this year’s FloydFest 2026, with no action required for the box office to honor those passes.
“We extend our sincerest wishes for a thorough and speedy recovery, and we look forward to welcoming them to FloydFest, hopefully soon,” the festival posted on Facebook.
Steven Wilson Jr. headlines on Thursday. My Morning Jacket closes the main stage on Saturday, and Lukas Nelson is the Sunday headliner, according to the festival schedule.
