The Cumberland Plateau Health District is offering free tetanus vaccines and boosters in Dante Wednesday to anyone affected by the weekendโ€™s flooding and to those who are helping with cleanup efforts.

Shots will be administered from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Dante Community Center, according to a post on the districtโ€™s Facebook page. Free naloxone also will be available.

The Tdap vaccine also covers diphtheria and pertussis.

According to the Virginia Department of Health, you may need a booster shot if it has been more than 10 years since your last tetanus vaccination, you have a puncture wound and it has been more than five years since your last tetanus vaccination, or you have a wound that has come in contact with flood water and it has been more than five years since your last tetanus vaccination.
