More than 1,000 acres of Henry County land could be purchased by an unnamed company interested in developing the property.
On Monday, the Henry County Industrial Development Authority announced plans to enter into a purchase option agreement with an as-of-yet undisclosed company. The agreement is for the Patriot Centre II, more commonly known as the Bryant Property, which totals 1,200 acres of undeveloped land adjacent to The Patriot Centre Industrial Park. The county purchased the property in 2007 in the hopes of expanding the original Patriot Centre if needed.
Howmet Aerospace, Eastman, and Monogram Food Solutions are among the companies with a presence at the Patriot Centre.
“This agreement represents an exciting opportunity for our community,” County Administrator Dale Wagoner said in a news release announcing the agreement. “If it moves forward, it could lead to significant capital investment and bring high-paying jobs to Henry County — exactly the kind of growth we want to support our residents and future generations.”
The agreement does not mean that the deal has been finalized. Instead, the purchase agreement grants the unnamed company exclusive rights to purchase the property should it decide to do so.
The company paid $50,000 for the option on the property. The agreement expires after six months, at which point the company can extend it for six months for an additional $50,000.
Currently, the Bryant Property has a price tag of $1.2 million. The company would also have to meet certain hiring and investment benchmarks established by the Industrial Development Authority.
