Gymnasiums from Wise County and Bristol to Loudoun County and Lancaster will be the sites of VHSL state quarterfinal basketball games Tuesday night involving boys and girls teams from Southwest and Central Virginia.
Boys’ games include Riverbend at Albemarle (Class 5); E.C. Glass at Tuscarora (Class 4); Carroll County at Spotswood and Western Albemarle at Northside (Class 3); Virginia High at Floyd County and Nelson County at Graham (Class 2); Altavista at Lancaster, Chilhowie at George Wythe, and Parry McCluer vs. Patrick Henry-Emory at Virginia High (Class 1).
Girls’ games include William Fleming at Potomac Falls (Class 5); Woodgrove at Salem and Charlottesville at Heritage-Leesburg (Class 4); Staunton River at Spotswood and Western Albemarle at Lord Botetourt (Class 3); Ridgeview at Liberty-Bedford and James River vs. Central-Wise at UVa-Wise (Class 2); and J.I. Burton at George Wythe and Fort Chiswell at Honaker (Class 1).
State semifinal games are scheduled for Friday.
The VHSL will hold its 12 state championship games March 13-15 at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Siegel Center in Richmond.
