Grayson County capped an epic comeback with a last-minute touchdown as the Blue Devils reached their first VHSL football championship game in school history Saturday with a 40-34 semifinal victory over previously undefeated Rye Cove in a Class 1 semifinal in Clinchport.

Grayson (10-3) will play for the championship at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 14 at Salem Stadium in Salem against 2023 Class 1 runner-up Essex, which defeated Altavista 30-8 on Saturday in its semifinal.
