Jennifer Valente’s career world championship medal count is up to 20.

The 29-year-old San Diego native, who rides for the Roanoke-based Blue Ridge TWENTY24 team, captured a silver medal and a bronze in the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, which concluded Sunday at Ballerup, Denmark.

Valente finished second in the Elite Women’s Scratch race on Wednesday at Ballerup Super Arena, finishing behind winner Loren Wiebes of the Netherlands.

On Thursday, Valente placed third in the Elite Women’s Elimination race as New Zealand’s Ally Wollaston took gold.

Valente finished ninth Sunday in the Elite Women’s Points race, which was won by Denmark’s Julie Leth.

Valente has won 18 Elite Women’s medals along with two UCI Junior World titles in 2011. She has seven Women’s gold medals, four silver and seven bronze. She won gold medals in the Women’s Omnium and Scratch events in the 2023 world championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

She won Olympic gold medals in August in France in Team Pursuit and the Omnium, giving her five Olympic medals overall. Valente also has competed in world championships or Olympics in London, Hong Kong, Berlin, Tokyo, Paris, the Netherlands and Poland.
