The field for the VHSL state basketball tournaments is complete with eight more teams from Southwest, Central, Southside and Shenandoah Valley Virginia joining the list Friday.
Tunstall and Northside (Class 3 boys), Luray and Clarke County (Class 2 boys), Auburn and George Wythe (Class 1 boys) and Central-Wise and Ridgeview (Class 2 girls) scored region semifinal victories Friday to qualify for next week’s state quarterfinals.
The boys and girls state championship games in the VHSL’s six classifications are set for March 7-9 at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Siegel Center.
Here are the state qualifiers in each classification:
Class 6 boys — Landstown, Oscar Smith, Patriot, Potomac, *Hayfield, West Potomac, James Madison, South Lakes.
Class 5 boys — Green Run, Kempsville, *Woodside, Maury, L.C. Bird, Albemarle, Potomac Falls, Massaponax.
Class 4 boys — Hampton, Churchland, Dinwiddie, *Varina, Loudoun Valley, Tuscarora, Charlottesville, Jefferson Forest.
Class 3 boys — Lake Taylor, Booker T. Washington, James Monroe, Meridian, Western Albemarle, Spotswood, Tunstall, *Northside.
Class 2 boys — *John Marshall, Bruton, Luray, Clarke County, Gretna, Martinsville, Virginia High, Graham.
Class 1 boys — *Lancaster, Middlesex, Carver Academy, Brunswick, Auburn, George Wythe, Chilhowie, Honaker.
Class 6 girls — Manchester, Thomas Dale, Gainesville, Osbourn Park, James Robinson, W.T. Woodson, Centreville, Oakton.
Class 5 girls — *Princess Anne, Deep Creek, Norview, Menchville, James River-Chesterfield, Patrick Henry-Roanoke, Briar Woods, Stone Bridge.
