Masonic Theatre in Clifton Forge to host Emmy-watching party Sept. 12
The Historic Masonic Theatre in Clifton Forge will host an Emmy-watching party Sept. 12 to celebrate the 14 episodes of Beth Macy’s “Dopesick” that were filmed in the town. The festivities begin at 7 p.m. with a pre-show cocktail hour with free music, free popcorn and cash bar.

Danville Pittsylvania Chamber hires operations director
The Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce has hired Crystal Hairston as the director of operations, a newly created position.
Hairston will be responsible for the management and coordination of operational activities that are vital to the execution of chamber programs and initiatives. Hairston will also collaborate with Christy Harper, the director of member engagement, to develop and oversee membership recruitment, retention and engagement for the chamber and manage administrative tasks related to communication with vendors, partners, board members and event coordination.
Hairston holds an associate of applied science degree in business management from Patrick Henry Community College and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honors Society. Hairston is also a certified career coach.
Hairston most recently held positions with Piedmont Community Services as an employment specialist/case manager and with Goodwill Industries of the Valley as a GoodCare regional coordinator.

Lime Kiln announces sellouts
The next two events of Lime Kiln Theater’s 2022 Summer Concert Series are both sold out:
- Aug. 27: Dan Tyminski Band with opener John Doyle
- Sept. 3: Love Canon and Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the music begins at 7:30 p.m. on both nights.

Clifton Forge to hold Q&A with town council candidates
A Candidate’s Conversation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 15 in the Historic Masonic Theatre Underground in Clifton Forge.
The six candidates running for the Clifton Forge Town Council’s three seats have been invited to answer questions from residents.
The moderator will present each question, which may be directed to every candidate or to an individual candidate.
