“I am just so excited that our state is finally making this history-changing moment,” said a former history teacher from Wythe County who attended the inauguration.

The orders span efforts to make daily life more affordable, to increase housing supply, to respond to federal actions and to rescind her predecessor’s order that required local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration orders, among others.

Gov. Abigail Spanberger laid the blame for the affordability crisis at the feet of the current presidential administration and issued her own administration’s resolve to work to make life more affordable for Virginians.

The amendments will go to voters in a referendum. One of the amendments is expected to go to referendum in the spring; the remaining three will be on the ballot in the fall.
