Across the country, plays with LGBTQ characters and themes are stirring controversy in school productions. That’s what happened when Heritage and E.C. Glass high schools staged “The Prom,” and Councilman Misjuns criticized the show for “anti-Christian sentiments.”

Registrar determines Republican candidate living in his friend’s garage meets residency requirements; petition to disqualify him fails

A petition attempting to disqualify Tim Griffin from the House District 53 race on the grounds he didn’t meet residency requirements failed. The Bedford County registrar said he should be registered “where he sleeps at night,” regardless of the building’s zoning.

Nearly 400 rural acres are the latest to be protected by conservation easement in Bedford County

A 390-acre farm in Northern Bedford County is one of the latest land parcels in Virginia to be protected under a conservation easement. The easement prevents development of the land, which is currently home to forests and a farm, even after it is sold.
