HopeTree rezoning gets final approval from Salem City Council
The council also approved, on a second and final vote, a plan to nearly double member salaries.
They grew up in the Virginia Baptist Children’s Home. The old property has changed, but their memories remain.
Even as these five alumni were growing up there, the Salem orphanage was adapting to change. Now it faces yet another evolution.

Both items were approved on first reading at the council’s last meeting. Approval on both first and second votes is needed for both measures.
