Jeremy Franklin is a freelance writer and broadcaster based in Lexington who has covered high
school and college sports in the region for 20 years. He served as the lead play-by-play
announcer for Washington and Lee University, his alma mater, from 2004-2021; he has also called games for VMI, Roanoke College, the ODAC, and the NCAA, and he’s covered prep and
college sports for The News-Gazette in Lexington.

The Riverheads High School Gladiators eye their 7th straight Class 1 football title as the George Wythe Maroons bid for an upset. This will be the Maroons’ first championship game since 2012.
