Rural communities face reality of decaying schools and no local financial capacity to replace them.
Elizabeth Obenshain
Beth Obenshain is a native of Blacksburg and lives on the family farm on Prices Fork Road. She worked for 30 years in journalism at The Richmond Times- Dispatch, The Fayetteville Observer and The Roanoke Times. She helped found and was the first executive director of the New River Land Trust. She currently is involved in a League of Women Voters of Virginia study of Education Equity in Virginia’s public schools.
