A Celebration of Life service for former State Sen. Frank Ruff, R-Mecklenburg County, who died Saturday after a battle with cancer, has been set for Friday.

Ruff, 75, was one of the most senior legislators in the General Assembly when he resigned last December for health reasons and was regarded as a leader in efforts to promote economic development in rural areas.

The family will receive visitors at their home on Wednesday and Thursday, October 30 and 31, from 1-5 p.m. at 237 Old Rock Road, Clarksville.

The Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 1, at Clarksville Presbyterian Church, 502 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, with a reception immediately following at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Mecklenburg County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 311, Chase City, VA 23924 or Saving Grace Animals for Adoption, P.O. Box 1649, Wake Forest, N.C. 27588.
