Will Adams sank a 3-pointer from the right wing with 2.2 seconds left in the game to give Norview High of Norfolk a 58-55 victory over defending champion Green Run High of Virginia Beach in the VHSL Class 5 boys basketball final at VCU’s Siegel Center in Richmond.

Norview and Green Run were VHSL co-champions in 2020 when the state final was canceled by COVID-19. This time the Pilots (25-2) settled things in a tightly contested championship game as Adams, a 5-foot-9 senior, hit the game-winner.

Green Run (24-5) nearly sent the game to overtime with a last-second shot from halfcourt that glanced off the rim.

Princess Anne High of Virginia Beach stretched its three-year win streak to 70 games Thursday, but the Cavaliers had to work overtime to do it before scoring a 65-62 victory over Menchville of Newport News in the Class 5 girls final.

Princess Anne (28-0) trailed 55-51 with 28 seconds left in regulation before forcing overtime on a bucket with eight seconds to play.

The Cavaliers survived the OT for their 16th overall VHSL championship and their fourth in a row. Princess Anne outlasted William Fleming 57-43 in a semifinal on March 6.

Menchville (25-2) was seeking its first state title since claiming the 2022 championship over Woodgrove.

In other VHSL championship games Thursday:

Class 6 girls: Osbourn Park High of Manassas claimed its second title in a row with a 48-42 victory over Manchester High of Richmond.

Osbourn Park finished 25-5 in 2025-26, while Manchester was 26-2.

Class 6 boys: Westfield High of Chantilly ended the season on a 28-game win streak with a 48-42 triumph over Landstown High of Virginia Beach.

It was Westfield’s second title, with the first coming in 2016. The Cavaliers (29-1) suffered their only loss this season on Dec. 4, an 87-44 setback to VISAA Division I power Paul VI. Westfield lost in the VHSL state final in 2015.

Friday’s schedule of four games has Union of Big Stone Gap playing Clarke County in Class 2 girls at 12:30 p.m., followed by Graham of Bluefield against Central-Woodstock in Class 2 girls at 2:30 p.m.
