The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday to discuss in a closed session the continuing search for a county administrator.
Pittsylvania has been without a county administrator for over a year. In April 2024, Stuart Turille resigned after just over a year in the position.
County treasurer Vincent Shorter served as interim county administrator on top of his existing role from July until the end of April.
In early May, the board designated assistant county administrator Dave Arnold to have the authority of county administrator until the role is filled.
The county is working with consultant MGT Impact Solutions to conduct a search to fill the position permanently. There is no official timeline for this process.
The posting for the position reads: “The county administrator is responsible for managing daily county operations, executing policies established by the board of supervisors, overseeing all departments, preparing the annual budget and ensuring adherence to laws and regulations.”
The board also met on this matter in a closed session before its regular meeting May 20.
Chairman Robert Tucker said the search is down to two candidates, the Danville Register and Bee reported.
There are no other meetings in Pittsylvania County this week.
In Danville, Monday’s utility commission meeting was canceled due to the holiday. The Danville community policy and management team will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday.
