A New Jersey-based paving stone manufacturer will bring 55 jobs and more than $47 million in investment to Pittsylvania County, Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s office announced Friday.
Cambridge Pavers will establish a new manufacturing facility in one of the county’s industrial parks. The company manufactures hardscape products for patios, landscaping and pool decks, according to the governor’s news release.
This will be the eighth facility for Cambridge but the first outside New Jersey. The 150,000-square-foot space will be constructed in the Ringgold East Industrial Park.
The project will take between 18 and 24 months to build out, said Steve Oberfield, Vice President of Cambridge Pavers.
Virginia beat out North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey and Massachusetts for this project, the release says. This demonstrates Virginia’s “competitive advantages for manufacturers,” Youngkin said in the release.
“Cambridge Pavers joins a growing roster of companies choosing Virginia for our strategic location, world-class workforce, and pro-business climate,” he said.
The company is hiring technical, manufacturing and customer service professionals, according to its website. Average pay will be about $58,000 annually, Oberfield said.
The county worked with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Southern Virginia Regional Alliance to attract this project to the state.
Youngkin approved a $220,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund, a state grant fund that helps secure economic development deals, for the project. The Virginia Talent Accelerator Program will support Cambridge Pavers’ jobs creation, according to the news release.
