The Black Crowes are getting a FloydFest do-over.
Brothers Chris and Rich Robinson and their sidemen were scheduled to play the event in 2023, the first go-round at FloydFest’s new site in the Check community. But, due to issues including a delayed stormwater management plan, event organizers canceled.
Next year’s FloydFest, the second at the new site, will feature The Black Crowes, along with acts including indie-folksters Mt. Joy, FloydFest veteran band JJ Grey & Mofro, The California Honeydrops, Larkin Poe, Futurebirds and Cimafunk, according to a festival news release.
FloydFest 25~Aurora is scheduled for July 23-27, 2025. Check for tickets, which include $150 daily general admission and payment plan options, at tinyurl.com/FloydFest2025.
Also announced in the Friday morning news release: Geese, Chaparelle, Sam Morrow, Big Richard, LaMP (feat. Russ Lawton, Scott Metzger, Ray Paczkowski) and Hippies & Cowboys. As per tradition, last year’s FloydFest 24~Horizon On-the-Rise winner Mackenzie Roark & the Hotpants and runner-up Ranford Almond are on the bill.
The Black Crowes were part of a 2023 lineup of headliners that featured My Morning Jacket, Sheryl Crow and Goose. Organizers were unable to receive timely approval for their stormwater management plan at the new site and wound up canceling the event. It was the second time since 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, that the festival didn’t go off as planned.
Look for more announcements, said Sam Calhoun, chief operating officer for Across-the-Way Productions, which presents FloydFest.
“This festival belongs to the patrons, and when one of the bands that continually topped patron requests, The Black Crowes, fell through our grasp when we had to cancel FloydFest 23~Forever, we immediately placed that buy at the top of our list for a future festival.” FloydFest spokesman Sam Calhoun said in a text message exchange. “The stars have now aligned, and The Black Crowes are perched back atop our marquee for FloydFest~Aurora. And they are in good company — not only considering the bands announced today in our initial lineup, but to be joined by the bands we will announce over the next so many months. ‘Aurora’ is looking bright!”
