Throughout the first week of May, Danville Community College (DCC) will welcome three presidential candidates to its campus. The candidates and their spouses will spend several days in f Danville touring the community and attending public forums where they will answer questions from attendees.

Earlier this month, the State Board for Community Colleges certified three finalists for the school’s presidency. The finalists came from a national search that attracted 63 candidates.

The three finalists, in alphabetical order, are: Dr. Muriel Mickles, of Lynchburg; Dr. Patrick Tompkins of Onancock; and Dr. Jerry Wallace, of Hastings, Nebraska. (Earlier we published background on each candidate.)

The public forums will take place in Oliver Hall in the Temple Building on the DCC Campus.

  • Dr. Muriel Mickles – Monday, May 2 from 4 – 5 p.m.
  • Dr. Jerry Wallace – Wednesday, May 4 from 4 – 5 p.m.
  • Dr. Patrick Tompkins – Friday, May 6 from 4 – 5 p.m.

Individuals who wish to attend these public forums should arrive to the Temple Building on Bonner Ave. no later than 3:45 p.m. There will be signage and personnel to direct attendees to Oliver Hall where the forums will take place.

“We hope that all interested parties will attend these open forums and take advantage of the unique opportunity to ask these candidates questions,” said Wimbish. “This is a great opportunity for our community to come hear the vision that each candidate has for DCC and the localities the College serves.”
