Location: Southwest and Southside Virginia (hybrid with office in Roanoke)

Cardinal News is a nonprofit online news organization serving Southwest and Southside Virginia. We are seeking a detail-oriented Revenue Operations Support team member to provide operational and administrative support across all revenue functions, including individual giving, sponsorships, and public notices. This role is ideal for someone interested in growing a career in nonprofit revenue, development, or operations.
Hybrid Work Expectations
This position follows a hybrid work schedule with a regular presence in our downtown Roanoke office. The Revenue Operations Support team member is expected to work in the office 1–2 days per week, with additional in-office days required as business needs arise (such as meetings, collaboration, deadlines, events, or special projects). The remaining work may be completed remotely. Candidates must be located within a reasonable commuting distance of Roanoke and able to adjust their in-office schedule as needed.
What You’ll Do
Donations & Membership
- Maintain donor records and review new donor accounts
- Process and record donations (check, ACH, online)
- Support donor acknowledgements and tax receipts
- Monitor recurring donation activity and assist with payment updates or plan changes
- Provide donor customer service and manage shared inboxes
- Support the Membership Manager with reporting and data tasks
Sponsorships
- Maintain sponsor records and set up new sponsors
- Schedule and confirm sponsorships; collect creative assets and insertion orders
- Prepare invoices, track payments, and follow up on collections
- Verify publication and provide sponsor confirmations
- Provide sponsor customer service and support Sponsorship Managers
Public Notices
- Confirm notices and ensure compliance
- Invoice, track payments, and manage affidavits
- Upload proofs and assist with newsletter summaries
- Serve as a point of contact for public notice customers
Administrative Support
- Assist the Executive Director and entire development team as needed
- Support events and special projects
- Assist with reporting, reconciliation, and process documentation
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working in an office environment with spreadsheets, documents, and CRM systems (donor related preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Customer service mindset and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Comfortable working in a hybrid (remote/in-office) environment
- Ability to handle confidential financial and donor information
- Canva or basic graphic design skills a plus
- Appreciation for journalism’s role in democracy and civic life
