Voters should expect more candidate announcements and a primary to come, the city’s Republican committee chair said.

The city’s other top public safety role, fire chief, is still in flux and will be until the spring.

The zoning amendment would significantly restrict where abortion clinics can operate in the city and require them to obtain conditional-use permits. The resolution would signal to the General Assembly that Lynchburg is opposed to proposed changes in the state’s redistricting process.

At the candidates’ press conference Tuesday afternoon, audience members held signs that read “Make City Council Boring Again,” and speakers focused on the theme of civility.

The reduction in service is needed because about 20% of the Greater Lynchburg Transit Company’s bus driver positions are vacant.

Tuesday’s discussion of the proposed site comes in the midst of ongoing deliberations regarding how the county will govern data center development in the future.
