Amy is a food and science writer whose story "Salt and Sex" for Whetstone Magazine was anthologized in Best American Food Writing 2023. She grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. She obtained graduate degrees from schools throughout the Southeast, including an M.A. in Interactive Journalism from American University. Amy got her start in food writing at Northern Virginia Magazine's food desk where she covered local food and dining news as an intern. She has called Southwest Virginia home for 11 years and has worked as a freelance writer and reporter more than 15 years, garnering food and lifestyle bylines locally at The Roanoke Times and The Roanoke Rambler, in broadcast radio at WMRA in Harrisonburg and WEHC in Abingdon, and KUAC in Fairbanks, Alaska.
