Henry County supervisors will consider a resolution endorsing grant funding geared toward saving a historically significant church.

On Tuesday, supervisors will consider the resolution during their 3 p.m. regular session at the county administration building’s Summerlin Room.

The grant, referred to as the Virginia 250, is awarded to applicants pursuing efforts to restore structures of historical significance. If awarded, funds would go toward preserving Trinity Presbyterian Church at 50 Kings Mill Road in Ridgeway.

“Trinity Presbyterian Church has been an integral part of the Ridgeway community since its founding in 1875, providing spiritual guidance and community service for generations,” reads a portion of the resolution.

The Trinity Presbyterian Church Historical Foundation, an organization that works to maintain the church, is requesting county officials give their support via the resolution, which states, maintaining the church could benefit the surrounding community.

“The preservation of Trinity Presbyterian Church will not only benefit the church community but will also enhance the cultural and historical landscape of Ridgeway, contributing to local tourism and educational initiatives,” reads part of the resolution.
