Monday: Radford City Council to amend appropriation ordinances and recognize Radford High School sports teams

At its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, the Radford City Council will amend three appropriation ordinances for funding the Crisis Intervention Team Access Center, repairing ADA ramps, and purchasing three laryngoscopes for the Radford Fire/EMS Four-4-Life program. The council will also recognize the Radford High School girls’ cross-country team, football team, golf team and volleyball team for their accomplishments in fall 2025.

Monday’s council meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Radford city office at 10 Robertson St. 

Tuesday: Christiansburg Town Council to vote on rezoning 37-plus acres for a housing development of 53 homes

At its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, the Christiansburg Town Council will vote on rezoning 37-plus acres at 300 Kimball Lane from agriculture to single-family residential to allow for a housing development of 53 detached homes. There have been four public hearings on this matter. The initial two public hearings were held Sept. 29 and Oct. 28 by the planning commission and town council, respectively. Because the applicant, RWJW Properties, revised its application with a fifth proffered condition, two more public hearings were held on Jan. 20 and Feb. 10. Tuesday’s town council meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Christiansburg Town Hall at 100 E. Main St. 

Tuesday: Blacksburg Town Council to make New River Valley Housing Fund Board appointment

At its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Blacksburg Town Council will appoint Matthew Hanratty to the New River Valley Housing Fund Board with a term expiring June 30, 2027. The agenda does not list any matters under unfinished business, new business or council announcements. The council meeting is open to the public and will be held in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building at 300 S. Main St.
