The Roanoke County School Board race for the Windsor Hills seat may come down to provisional and absentee ballots.
Ryan White, a child and adolescent psychiatrist, holds a slim lead over incumbent Cheryl Facciani, who was first elected in 2021.

White had 49.89% of the vote as of Wednesday morning, while Facciani had received 49.19%. They are separated by 60 votes, according to unofficial results from the Virginia Department of Elections.
Roanoke County registrar Anna Cloeter said by email early Wednesday that about 60 provisional ballots still needed to be counted. In addition, absentee ballots could arrive through noon Friday, she said.
Virginia allows ballots to be recounted if the margin is 1 percentage point or less. The state pays for the recount only if the margin is a half percentage point or less.
On Facebook Wednesday morning, White wrote that he wanted to thank his supporters while waiting for the certification of the results. “This race was never about me. It was about standing up for what is right, and saying ‘enough is enough’. It’s about saying, ‘our children are not pawns in your politics,'” he wrote.
Facciani has not posted on her campaign Facebook page since Monday.
